TALKING ‘TIL IT HURTS — BRINGING A HELPING PRESENCE TO PEOPLE IN PAIN
Hosted by Hospice PEI (Hospice Palliative Care Association of PEI)
Friday, March 24th, 2023, 9am-4pm
Facilitator: Roy Ellis MDiv MEd CSCP
Charlottetown Library Learning Centre 100-97 Queen Street (Rotary Auditorium)

Are you a friend of a person living with a life-limiting diagnosis or is receiving hospice palliative support?
Does your work or volunteering involve supporting Islanders living with a life-limiting, palliative diagnosis?
Are you a paid or unpaid caregiver supporting someone who lives with a life-limiting diagnosis?
Do you work or volunteer in healthcare, long-term care, spiritual care, or private care facilities?
Do you have a loved one who has been recently diagnosed with a life-limiting condition?

If you answered yes to any of these questions…this workshop is for YOU!

Ever find yourself in a powerful listening moment and just have no idea where to go next, what to say, or how to help? Join the club.

Talking with people who are in the midst of chronic illness, disease, dying and grief can be a challenge, even for veteran listeners. Sometimes they are silent and unreachable, other times enraged and overwhelmed, or else, defended and pretending to be “okay.”

We are looking forward to welcoming Roy Ellis who will facilitate a day-long workshop to speak on topics such as talking and listening to people during chronic illness, disease, dying, and grief.

The day will be filled with conversation and learning. Roy brings over 30 years of experience working in frontline environments where loss and trauma are experienced every day. https://www.royfellis.com/about

Registration is required: Call (902) 368-4498 or email [email protected]
Deadline for registration March 21st, 2023
Registration is free for paid members and active volunteers of Hospice PEI and $20 for non-members.

A boxed lunch will be provided, and dietary restrictions will be accommodated.
We look forward to seeing you!
