Grief Support

At Hospice PEI we offer grief support services that are tailored to meet individual needs and are available to anyone, regardless of prior involvement with hospice or palliative care. Our grief support services were created to help Islanders begin their grief journey by offering support, compassion, and understanding.

Anyone grieving the loss of a loved one is eligible for Hospice PEI grief support, granted their grief support needs can be met with the services and groups we offer. We can also make referrals to specialized professionals if further support is needed.

Our grief support services include:

Open grief support groups – Drop-in style monthly grief support group. Monthly attendance is not required – drop in when you feel like you could use some extra support. Offered in all regions.

Closed grief support groups – Requires pre-registering. Duration of 6-8 weeks. Participants are encouraged to complete the full 6-8 weeks. Offered throughout the year in all regions.

Peer to peer support groups – Staff-led with highly trained volunteers. Often a closed group setting for a duration of 6 weeks. Once completed, participants are encouraged to continue to support each other.

One on one telephone grief support – When someone experiences a loss, loved ones are invited to request one on one grief support. Highly trained volunteers provide the support through telephone conversations.

Lending library with grief support resources – We have a variety of resources pertaining to grief and loss that we would be happy to lend to those who need. Please contact us for more information on our lending library.

To find out when our next grief support group is happening, please check out our Events & Activities Calendar.
