Have You Lost A Loved One?

Grieving the death of a loved one is a natural but painful process. There is no right or wrong way to grieve, and everyone grieves in their own way. We are here to listen to all Islanders and to provide a safe, compassionate, and supportive environment for those grieving the loss of a loved one.

We offer our grief support services free of charge, and they are available to anyone regardless of prior involvement with Hospice PEI or palliative care, granted that the grief support needs can be met with the services and groups we offer. You don’t have to explain your grief to people who have lived it too. Peer-to-peer grief support creates connection, understanding, and relief from isolation. Our groups are open to anyone grieving the recent loss of a loved one—because grief is easier when it’s shared. Contact the coordinator in your region to sign up! Spaces are limited

DISCLAIMER: Hospice PEI does not provide professional counselling or therapy; rather we offer compassionate peer-based support. Peer support is emotional and practical support between two or more people who share a similar experience, such as the loss of a loved one. Hospice PEI grief support services are not provided by certified counsellors or therapists. If your bereavement needs cannot be met by our services, we encourage you to call the Mental Health and Addictions phone line. Calls are answered by trained mental health professionals (a registered nurse or a social worker) 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. Toll-free: 1-833-553-6983 or visit www.princeedwardisland.ca/MHA. You can also call #211 for non-urgent services.
